I was at Bergdorf Goodman the other day and I had a nice conversation with the salesguy. I'm interested in doing a MTM suit and he suggested that I go with Zegna. He told me that there were Z Zegna, regular Zegna, and Zegna Couture. The one that they offered was Zegna and I asked him if that was E Zegna and he said no, just regular Zegna. What does that mean though? I thought E Zegna was the regular line? Or I'm wrong about this?

I'm pretty sure that E(rmenegildo) Zegna is indeed the "regular Zegna". Someone correct me on this if I'm mistaken.

Yes, Z Zegna does not offer MTM AFAIK.

Correct.

There are 3 lines:

Z Zegna: Does not offer MTM service

Ermenegildo Zegna (also known as Sartorial): Offers MTM service and includes the basic or "Clasici" fabrics as well as their Trofeo, High Performance, Traveller, etc. which are their higher end fabrics.

Couture: Offers MTM service. Used to be know as "Napoli Couture" but now it is just "Couture".

Regards!

Most sales reps really only learn what they must.

Pull the fabric tags form the jacket pocket,
in the lower left corner there is a box with two letters.

ZZ
EZ
ZC

Ask to see a MTM piece done for some one else if you have doubts.

If he says regular, he must mean EZ.

The only product where I thought there was a difference between E. Zegna and just plain Zegna was ties, where the E. Zegna ones were a little brighter and more modern in their patterns, while the regular Zegna ones were more traditional. The way I Always tell them apart is the stripe on the skinny half of the "regular" ones.
