Question on Midnight Blue Tux?

For a tux made from midnight blue cloth, would grosgrain / satin trimming in black be appropriate, or does one have to source midnight blue trimmings (and bow tie) as well?

I had midnight blue DB tux made by Despos, our SF approved tailor.
The lapels are black silk/satin.

I have an event this summer and I'm considering a midnight blue tuxedo...anyone have suggestions on where to find? Top end of my budget is $1500. I looked at Brooks Brothers and Nordstroms and all I can find is black.

+1 on the black. As for (what I consider) the logic, think of this:

-Evening dress (non-white tie) is called "black tie" because one is supposed to wear a black bow tie

-Black tie conventions tell us that the tie material should match the facings of the jacket/trousers

-Were a midnight tux to have midnight facings one of two things would have to be true: either you'd need to have a tie that does not match the facings or "black tie" would become "blue tie"

Incidentally, I think another reason that black facings (particularly in satin) work very well on midnight is that "midnight looks blacker than black" doesn't seem as applicable to something shiny like satin, given how it reflects light differently than wool.

I got mine with black grosgrain trimmings. Even in summer early evenings, where there's still enough natural light to discern the colour difference between the trim and the midnight blue, the combination actually looks pleasing rather than jarring. It comes across as a small difference in shade, nothing more than that. And of course, once you're indoors & in worse lighting conditions, everything becomes basically the same colour anyway. Obviously I'm a little biased, but I also have a black tux and still prefer wearing the midnight navy one, so I think I'm being fair to both.
