I have seen the following brands come up now and again on various forums and ebay but I have yet to have any experience with them. Some seem to have some nice pieces:

Massimo
Roda
Bagutta
Caliban
Tombolini

are any of these of decent quality?

Also on a side note what are the different types of Talbott items? I have seen various different tie and shirt labels (ie 'best of class')

Unfortunately I am only familiar with 2 of the brands; Bagutta and Massimo.

Bagutta was very well known for their shirts back in the 80s and the 90s but I've not seen much of them around lately. Have owned quite a few of their shirts. I think they used to produce their own but not anymore. If I am not mistaken CIT does the work for them know. They have been out of the limelight for sometime. Good shirts nonetheless.

Massimo - I sure hope we're talking about the same Massimo. I know there's another brand Massimo that you find in Target stores but I am referring to none other than Massimo Osti, the creative genius behind CP Company and Stone Island. He passed away a couple of years back but had left his post as creative director of both labels sometime back.I have no idea if the Massimo brand you see at the local Target is related to Osti but suffice to say, I was not impressed with the new stuff. His older pieces are now a collector's item among some folks.

Thanks for the info, I also just found the Tombolini website and they have some very nice pieces, quite pricey though. I was refering to Massimo Bizzocchi
