Purple ties, what suit-shirt combo would these look good in? What occasions can you wear them in?

I wear purple ties with a sky blue poplin or herringbone shirt and charcoal suit.

I only have one dark purple tie, which I like to pair with either a charcoal suit or a dark blue pinstriped one. I often wear an off-white shirt with it; either cream or a soft bluish white. I find the contrast with bright whites too harsh.

I have a powerful aversion to the color purple--unless it's really dark.

I think purple is a versatile color--matches well with both blue and pink shirts-- and appropriate for just about any non-formal setting; but best with more casual outfits, especially with spring here and bolder color combos the norm.

I'm sure if you cruise through the WAYWRN thread you'll find lots of examples of purple ties and other details. Here's one of mine:

Light purple tie with light blue and white dots with blue shirt with light purple stripes; with light gray suit.

My wife bought me a lovely heavy Barbera solid bright purple tie that I wear with a white shirt that has a subtle purple and black/charcoal pattern, or with a white herringbone shirt; with charcoal suit.

Get compliments on both; I think purple is underused, so it gets noticed when done properly.

PLenty of possibilities...virtually all blues, pink (esp with darker shades of purple), of course white...even a subtle shade of green.
I wouldn't double with a lilac shirt, however you might wanna risk a shirt with yellow stripes as yellow compliments purple.

Purple is not nearly as hard to wear with things as it may seem. My favorite is a hand-rolled solid from Arnys.

What color of purple? Lavender? Liliac? Tyrian purple? Violet? Wisteria?

I find that a solid saturated dark purple tie works well with a blue shirt and light gray suit. There are many other good combinations with blue and pink shirts and grey/blue suits. More versatile than it seems.

It's not that it's hard to wear. There's just something about the color that makes me feel carsick. It's an entirely subjective hate.
