I suggest doing a search for prom as a lot of people will probably skip over this thread since it's a question that's been asked many times before. That said:

1) Unless nobody wears a tuxedo to prom, wear a tuxedo and learn how to tie a bow tie (www.blacktieguide.com).

2) Do not wear a suit without a tie.

3) Get a dark grey or navy suit instead of light grey. This will be much more useful to you after prom. Wear a white shirt. If you truly must wear pink for some reason (I own 5-6 pink shirts and wear them often, just during the day and for less formal events), find a pink tie.

4) A suit or really any tailored jacket requires proper dress shoes. Sneakers with a suit is pretty high on the list of worst looks out there. Buy a pair of black cap toe oxfords (Allen Edmonds Park Avenue or equivalent design). They will also be useful to you after prom.

Hello, in about six months I have prom and I been wondering what shoul i wear. So as I was thinking I came with something like that: http://www.google.si/imgres?imgurl=...IKozDtAaC2oHQBw&sqi=2&ved=0CDAQ9QEwAg&dur=255

But without a tie. And now for the shoes I was thinking about Converse All Star Low, but I dont know which colour should I buy, RED or BURGUNDY.

Tell me what do you think?

Assuming that Prom is held during the evening, a darker-colored suit (with a white shirt and satin tie) almost always looks better than one in light gray. Moreover, sneakers are an abomination when worn outside of a casual setting, so instead invest in a pair of dress shoes that you can wear in interviews and other more formal events as well. I have a 4-part series on prom attire on my blog, written by request of a few friends still in high school. It's not the best, and I doubt that it's SF-approved, but it's a start. Plus, isn't 6 months a bit early to start preparing for prom?

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
