Nice, il ciclista. I wonder if the second photo would be improved by removing the left part of the building, for more symmetry.

I meant removing the triangle you see of the building, set back from the wall where the angel is. Not cropping, but photoshopping it out, so the angel's wall get the same amount of black on each side, giving it more of a monumental, symmetric feel. I've never done photo manipulation like so, only using cropping, colour and contrast controls on my simple snaps, but I know lot of great photos are tinkered with like this, so maybe it's something worth trying.

If it's film, I guess it could be acchieved by dodging and burning.

This is with the left bit out, it does add symmetry, but does it look like something is missing on the left or is it just because i've seen it in person and my mind is wired to know that it isn't correct?

That sounds likely. I can't say for sure which is the better version, but when seeing the first I was slightly distracted by the part now removed, and I do think it works well in the edited version.

You're welcome :)

dcg, I too think that second one is great. As for you water effects, are they as silky as you had planned? It may be because you very often see long(er) exposure shots with moving water, but I think I might either prefer them with frozen-in-movement water or much more silky (like in Szeph el raton's post above) - I guess that would mean cranking the ND filters...
