You guys are crazy. The discount is there as an incentive for you to purchase. More people purchasing = good. Limiting the amount of people who could use said discount would defeat the purpose of paying for affilliation with styleforum. The retailers here are not trying to "reward" you with hookupz, they are trying to make sales.

your money is just as good as the lurker dude's. I wonder how little the regular forum geeks buy stuff, because they want 2x the quality at .2x the price, and imagine that compared to the hoards of lurkers.

yea, good post. Everyone seems to be here with the mentality that their discount is some sort of reward. I mean, I sign up for all sorts of promotions and mailling lists for the private sales and flash sales and discount codes, but I am not naive enough to feel entitled to it. It's a smart businsess decision on both ends, and when it stops being one, it is stupid to expect it.

I'm thankful for the discount, and have used it more than once. What pays for that however is the fact that the affiliates here get free targeted advertising to hundreds of customers who are already interested in their goods. Mauro isn't paying to put ads for his stuff in a magazine that might generate one hit in ten thousand, he is speaking directly to his customer base with daily updates on new products. I work in retail and would kill to send personal updates to my best customers, much less doing it for essentially free. I know corporate spends millions trying to do just that with its affinity program.

Yeah they offer it through email and such because they know if you signed up you're going to TAKE ADVANTAGE OF IT. They're helping the customer and themselves. This is the same sort of deal, if you're coming to a forum based on style, it means you like to buy clothes! Merely searching out this site qualifies you as someone who cares about what clothes they buy and therefore makes you worthy of the discount...

The majority of people who shop with me to not get a discount. SF is a small percentage of my sales.
all my womens business and walk in biz is local and 99% don't know what SF is.
I have an interst in SF and there are enough total members that I could do rather well as a retailer however I am far from even tapping into 5% of Sf business.
