I'm surprised the pants are so long, because a 29" inseam sounds about right for a 5'9" guy. But these other measurements are pretty surprising to me. A 16.5" shoulder, 34" hips and 34" chest are seriously skinny -- if you weigh any more than 135 pounds I just can't see you having measurements that narrow. And the "stomach" measurement of 28"? What place on your body is that?

I'm Asian built . 5' 9". 135 lbs.

The stomach measurement as I measured it was 2" above my navel.

FFS... Not another one of these...

These threads are unfairly trashing Thick as Thieves' reputation. I have several suits and odd jackets from them and they all look great, in my opinion. However:

1) These threads should be in the SW&D forum. Actually, in the dedicated TaT thread. They're not traditional suits. The opposite of conservative business dress. They have a distinctive cut that fits a very specific aesthetic.

2) The pictures posted are always poorly lit, grainy things where the suit hasn't been pressed and the wearer is standing awkwardly, not to mention the bad styling.

3) Self-measured MTM is bound to require a bit of tailoring on the first try.

Overall though, with some slight alterations I think that the OPs suit could look pretty good.

Is it your first mtm suit?

Your first few mtm items are a learning process, sorry to say, but you must consider the money spent an investment in knowledge.

Find all the problem areas in the suit (there are many), then find their corresponding measurements, then remeasure yourself one area at a time to see what you should add/remove.

Hey all,
Honestly, Jason provides a very good service and was extremely helpful. He answered all of my questions in a timely manner.
I'll be going shorten my trouser as well as giving the suit a good press. Hopefully after the press, most of the wrinkles will be gone. I'll take a look at the suit again.

After all, thanks for everyone's critique. I greatly appreciate them!

How is it unfair when the pics speak for themselves? Its usually a trainwreck but if you have great stuff post pics

I've seen a handfull of guys who have nailed it. They are all universally slim, young and good looking. If I recall properly, there was a tweed two button, a charcoal with less aggressive details, and a korean celebrity lookalike in the charcoal house cut from way back when. You do need boyish good looks to pull it off. I think that's especially highlighted in their magazine spread.

+1 this is probably the third 'critique my TaT suit' thread I've seen and they never look good honestly.

I'm not sure SW&D is the proper venue either. Perhaps we should devise another one for sloppy fits.

I agree with of the observations made:

1) The trousers are far too long and baggy. The baggyness of the trousers is in contrast to the very fitted nature of the jacket which produces an odd and inconsistent overall look.

2) Lots of wrinkling in the sleeve which suggests it needs to be re-pitched.

3) The OP mentioned shortening the sleeves to show some shirt cuff. The sleeves already look fairly short and I wonder whether your shirt sleeves actually need to be a bit longer?

As someone else posted above, I think you would have got a better result buying off the rack and then having a tailor make alterations. Ordering MTM via the net might be okay for a shirt, but in my opinion is too risky for a suit.

I agree with the MTM online post it will almost always equal fail. I going to try Tat when I go visit my Sis in L.A. and get properly measured by them. IMO this the only way to do it!

This doesn't guarantee much either with TaT. I show somebody post a suit when they were measured by them not to long ago and it looked horrible.
