I guess if you determine a word's definition by centuries-old British parlance rather than by common usage, then yeah. The fact of the matter is that even many of the SWD-approved stores we deal with generally refer to bluchers as oxfords. If the new usage is prevalent even at this expert level, then it's counterproductive (read: confusing, crotchety) to maintain the distinction in our discussions.

I hate it when this discussion comes up as a SW&D vs. MC debate. It's not. It's American English vs. British English. If you want to equate common usage with American English, fine, but others will argue with you. My vote goes to the Alden blucher at Blackbird.

I have the Yuketen oxford, you ain't missing much even you can't get them in the States, as I find the last of Alden to be more attractive and the leather to be of better quality. Their price are similar, both around 400 USD. I ain't going to get any more plain toe oxford though as I run out of ideas of how to pair it up with pants.

Wow, not a single actual oxford. Do you guys even know what an oxford looks like?

I think the consensus is that the OP meant derby. Moving on...

Definitely a derby rather than an oxford. If you're after a chunky black derby why not go with genuine army surplus?

Look into Tricker's shoes. Some of their lasts are wider and chunkier, such as the Country last.
