Oxxford 1220 on eBay

This is my first time using this forum, so please bare with me if I seem like I don't know what I am talking about. I love Style Forum because everyone here gives me great insight into making my next clothing purchase. Recently, I've been buying suits for work and to add to my wardrobe. I've bought 2 Canalis and a Corneliani to add to my collection of Zegna and Isaia. So far, I've bought only Italian suits and haven't really tried on other suits (American or British). I usually like Italian suits more because of the softer construction and the handwork that goes into making them.

Recently, I found a post on eBay for an Oxxford 1220 2-Button Navy Solid Suit for $799.95. I read on another thread that Oxxford tends to make more boxier suits and that the 1220 line is made with a slimmer, more softer construction. I usually would go try on a suit at a store before buying online so I can get a feel for the fit, but because Oxxford is based out of Chicago, I can't seem to really get a good grasp as to whether or not I should get it. Does anyone know if there's a store in San Francisco Bay Area that carries the Oxxford 1220 line, so I can try the suits on before purchasing on eBay. Btw, the eBay seller doesn't accept returns; otherwise, I would have just bought it, tried it on, and return it if I didn't like it. Is it worth the buy? What is the fit of the Oxxford 1220 comparable to (i.e. Zegna, Isaia, Canali, Corneliani)?

I hear that the handwork on an Oxxford is either about the same or higher than Brioni and Kiton. Do you guys think I should buy that or spend my money toward buying pocket squares and sevenfold ties? I'd appreciate any advice given.

FWIW I have that exact suit in 46R and an Isaia Base "V" in 46R. The Isaia was cut a little slimmer ,would guess 1" in the chest and proportoniately slimmer throughout. The original cut is definitely not boxy.

It was fine as is, but I really like the fit of the Isaia so I had my tailor trim down the body slightly and it came out great.

Be very careful about buying online. Although something might be 'new with tags', it could also have been altered (i.e. customer changes his mind and returns the suit - with tags). Just make sure you can return the item if you find any problems with it,

The eBay posting says that I can return it if I find any problems with it(i.e. suit doesn't match what it says online), but I can't return it because of fit. Honestly, that sounds pretty stupid to me, but what can I do.

I also like Isaia suits, except I have the Base S model. I'm just wondering how an Oxxford 1220 like this one compares to the likes of Isaia. Out of all my suits, Isaia fits me best, but I like to try out different brands to potential diversify my wardrobe.

It's not stupid... there's a reason he's selling the suit at that price. If you wanted a suit like that with no doubts of it not fitting right, buy it in the store... but let me know if you can get it at that price.

The seller, Frieshkey's, always seems to have a lot of Oxxford, including a lot of samples. My guess is that they have a connection from Oxxford or a distributor.

Does the seller allow you to return for credit? This is a big seller and if you disliked what you bought, you'd have a chance to find something else soon enough.

Btw, I think the suit looks great. If I store required them, I'd snap it up myself.
