I am going to order a suit from moderntailor. It is going to be a charcoal 2 button suit. This is my first time and I need some recommendations on these options.

Lapel finish with or without top stitching?
Vertical or sliced pockets on pants?
Color of the lining?

Thanks for your help

I'd get it without top stitching. I haven't seen it, so I don't know how it looks.
Sliced Pockets
Lining should be black
Get side vents

I wouldn't really recommend MTM for your first suit order. You really have to have a good idea how you want the suit to fit, especially if you're sending in measurements. But, if you follow the measurement guide perfectly it should be alright I guess. Make sure you do the measurements with clothes on.

I had Modern Tailor e-mail me picture of a jacket with the top stitching. It looked like something from the 70's. I thought maybe it was pick stitching, but it was far from it. IMO, go with a contrasting lining. I had a light grey suit made with pink paisley lining from another MTM service. Rarely is it seen, but I like it because its different. If they had it a bright red or green would look great with the dark grey you are having made.
