But compare a pair of APC NS with a pair of dark blue jeans from Guess. How come the APC will fade to a very light color but the Guess jeans take longer or never will?

One's 'raw denim', one isn't.

Raw denim is not washed during the production process after it is dyed. Therefore it retains its quality to fade as the person wears them - a quality which washed denim possesses to a lesser degree.

Not too sure on the deets but I believe washing denim before any of the fading process has begun makes it harder to lose the indigo colour.

It's a completely different type of dye. To be more specific, the jeans that fade will use an indigo based dye, wear as most washed jeans use a sulfur based dye.

Samurais. This is the last year for their arcs. (Pick up some size 33 710s while you're there.)

Hello I have 24 1/2" thighs, a 36" waist, around ****** is about ~45" and I am 5'11 i was wondering if there are any jeans that I could wear that have a slimming yet comfortable feel, I like gap and levi jeans a lot, and I don't like very baggy jeans. Any help?

Go for a straight leg cut. Careful don't go too tight on jeans at the thigh or it will look out of proportion when you dress. I made the mistake going for the slim look (tight thighs) in jeans before and it didn't look good.

I agree that straight leg would be the way to go. 501s are a flattering fit for bigger guys.

I'm about to shorten a pair of pants by 2 inches.
And I'm wondering how a tailor can shorten
it while keeping the original length so that the pants can be let
out to their original length in the future.
I've read that it can be done, but is 2 inches too much
to fold inside the leg without cutting it off?

I want to buy a bOo flannel from F/W09 collection but am unsure whether to get medium or small. I'm 5'7, 155 with fairly muscular build -- a small in JCrew button-ups for reference.

What tools do designers use to give clothing that "brushed" or "worn" look?
