I would prefer you used the same oz. leather as the rest of the boot. I have 20+ PNW pairs, and the tongue has a greater propensity to wear, because of the thinner leather. Just my 7-8 oz.
Interesting. I prefer the thinner tongues, but I use the false tongues and fit my boots so that the gap between the eyelets is fairly narrow so the false tongue is all that's exposed in the gap. I've never worn a hole through the tongue doing it this way. I think you use the false tongues too, but I know you work constantly in a lot more abrasive grit than I do. I'm usually just in plain old dirt and clay, mud, and woodland debris.
Not being argumentative at all, just an observation. And that proves you just can't build the "one perfect boot" that works for everyone! Glad we have choices and options to suit our needs and tastes.
