New strap for JLC Reverso, any experience with A.B.P. in Paris?

Just bought a second hand Reverso and I am considering a "custom" strap since I have really thin wrists... And the fact that the Reverso takes 17mm straps does not make it easier

I already bought an Hirsch "Ascot" strap that looks pretty good!



But I have to use the last hole in the strap and the quality does not do the JLC justice (it is still quite a nice strap though for around €45,-)

When searching the SF archives I came across the name of the following company:

A.B.P. order form

Examples

It seems they have a really nice "on-line" program you can use to create and order your strap. Is there anyone who can comment on the quality of their products? Or are there other manufacturers I should consider? (price max. €200,-)

BP has made some very nice straps for me, and they can make straps in all materials and colors you can imagine, including phoque. However, it sounds like I've had better luck going there in person to order and pick up my straps than other posters have had ordering online.

There are some other watchstrap makers in Paris you could try, but I don't think they sell online:
Scarlett is the cheapest, and they do decent work, although not quite as good as ABP.
Duret sells watchstraps, and Camille Fournet makes watchstraps as well. There are quite a few Camille Fournet watchstraps on ebay at any given time.

Thanks. I will visit Paris next week so I could go to their shop while I am there... I guess it would be worthwhile to see which leather and options are available and place the final order through their website? Do you happen to know what went "wrong" with the straps people ordered over the internet?

The "Ascot" by Hirsch is part of their lower line watch straps. Standard JLC Reverso, by the way, comes in an ostrich strap. I think part of the reason your strap does not look impressive is that it's not exotic material.

I do not care much for the ostrich straps but maybe an alligator or crocodile strap would be a good choice indeed... Thanks a lot for the links, I did not know of this particular website. And they have the better quality straps in 17mm and shorter sizes! Only the 17mm bands have a slightly smaller buckle size (16mm or so) which means I cannnot fit my JLC buckle

Personally, I've always thought the tan ostrich strap that came with the Reversos to be an inspired choice. Crocodile and its relation, alligator, are just too ubiquitous nowadays.
