If that's the suit you wore last week, it's spectacular, literally. Bmulford, the others, and I could barely keep our eyes off of it, to say nothing of our hands...

Because I was feeling left out:

Looking at all these side-by-side, it makes it clear that it's really the length that distinguishes VG's jacket, not as much the button stance.

I agree with this. I've seen several cases where the wearer seems to be pushing their pelvis forward in a very unnatural way. I addressed this issue with Patrick to ensure it was avoided on my commissions.

+1. (nice work) I agree the buttoning point at natural waist level is far nicer. Lapels are a personal preference of course. I wonder if the result would have been different if VG's order was placed in person with fittings rather than by email?

These pics remind me that Rubinacci's cut appears to work wonderfully with DBs. Really smashing stuff from both Matts. Very expressively sculpted.

Having seen one of those Rubinaccis in person, I agree.

All four suits look very nice but the LH samples make Chan and Steed look flat and lifeless.

Really a shame that Mariano has recently enrolled in the Kabbaz School of Pricing.

In the Steed's defense, the flat and lifeless part comes from the guy wearing it...

I guess I can't imagine that any of these bespoke suits worn together in the same room would look flat and lifeless in person, compared one to the other. In particular, VG's Chan is the most sparkly because it veers furthest from the classic.

Do you button the button down collars first, then unbutton? Or do you just never button?

I ask this because of the difference that an unsealed buttonhole makes to carefree sprezzatura. If there is no evidence of the button having passed through, it is generally thought to be a bit louche.

I wore the full Foo last night to dinner. Faux tweed, gray pants, BB ocbd, cordovan shoes and a striped tie. I signed no autographs, though I did see some nubile young lasses working up the courage to approach.

Once again, bettered by my west coast forebearer. I've only been approached by Styleforum lurkers.
