Spitting in the face of economic reality, a couple of months ago I ordered a new double-breasted suit from W.W. Chan. I ordered via e-mail and had them tweak a few things (slightly shorter trousers, slightly shorter jacket, bolder lapels than my previous DBs). Fabric is a navy (actually a black and blue twill, but from a distance it looks navy) from the Holland & Sherry Snowy River book.

Splendid.

To my eye, you are the most successful guy with Chan of any who post.

I'm undecided about how high the buttons are, though...might like them more a bit lower.

Looks great.

Have you ever thought of going with a slightly shorter coat?

Marvelous.

Do you subscribe to Patrick's new sleevehead treatment?

I would rake up the lapels a bit more, and make the ends pointier, but I like to complain.

Can't say anything bad about the fit.

I feel like something looks "off" about the lapel and the collar, but I can't put my finger on it. Do you happen to have a picture showing what you're describing?

well it's not the typical pointier lapel pointing upwards more and with a higher gorge.

this one has a broader lapel and the peak lapels are straight out with more equilateral triangular shape to it.

but i like it, if you are going to have a custom-made, might as well go for a more unique look.
this one reminds me of the suitings the evil archenemy would wear in a movie, who always strokes a cat in his arms.

That's what I was going for, and I even had Chan send me a sketch to this effect, but the lapels, while better than my previous DBs, still leave me wanting. It's strange because, with SB peak lapels, Chan has no problem producing a more upward peak.

This actually is a little shorter than my previous DBs from Chan, but if I had my druthers, I would have made it another 1/2 inch shorter.

Didn't know there was a new one.

I guess, although I wouldn't say it's that roomy. We're not talking sack suit here. Waist is still plenty nipped.

Really really nice. You and Chan clearly have things down to a fine art!

There's something about the buttoning stance or waist height or relative jacket length of your Chan stuff that always catches my eye and makes me want to think about making a very slight adjustment to bring it into perfect harmony. It's 99% perfect but the 1% discordant note bugs me. But I'm not entirely sure what I'm seeing here or whether it's just my imagination or camera angle, so can't offer any advice. I suspect it might be related to vox's button suggestion. Maybe...
