interesting thread
Agree with a number of these especially monkstraps and going sockless

I'll add ties made of jacketing/suiting

Wearing shorts when not at a beach, pool, resort, or doing an athletic activity

Proper trousers with no break (hate seeing socks when one is walking, moving, etc.)

Wearing a field jacket with a shirt and tie. Especially the popular, but horrible, Eidos field jackets.

Flip flops

Sandals for men

Tyrolean shoes (eg, Paraboot Michael, Heschung Thuya)

... have back pockets on my suit trousers. Can't stand the pocket bags being in the way when I never use them.

... buy button-fly trousers. The zip-fly is an innovation worth embracing.

... buy another waistcoat. I've bought three and equally disliked wearing them all.

How do you feel about lapel boutonniere holes, chest welt pockets, and cuffs on sleeves? It seems many of these things are vestigial and for good reason. Kind of like cars... we could probably just have bullet shaped pods with wheels on them, but it wouldn't really tick a lot of the boxes for what feels like a car.

Agreed on button fly, I always get zips, and I think my tailor has started using weird contrasting zipper material just to spite me. It's always a similar color range, but not right. Like using light gray zippers fabric on charcoal pants so that when I sit down there is a bizarre pale gray line.

1. Ticket pocket

2. Patch Pockets

3. Elbow patches

4. Chelsea boots

5. Double Monks

6. "Italian" pleats

7. Wing tips (brogues)

8. Polo Coat

9. Zipper neck sweater

Those are great ones. Strongly agree on all the shoe comments, brogues especially.
Would you put patch pockets on a jacket you wore through?
What kind of overcoat do you like?

Beard or facial scruff
Knitwear with a suit / jacket and tie
Monks
1, 2 or 4 button jackets (except dinner jacket)
DB jackets
Those two button jackets with pressed flat lapels and a superfluous button hole drilled into the bottom of the lapel (refuse to call them 'three roll two' as there's no roll involved!)

Sprout I guess you're not one for driving mocs eh?

What do you think about a knitted gilet/waistcoat with a jacket, but no tie?
I occasionally do this for warmth, but I can see how it might be considered contrived.

- Gunclub jackets.

- Penny loafers.

- Red trousers.

What kind of loafers do you like? A more svelte kind?

Ties made of jacketing/suiting is a really good one!

Wearing shorts when not at a beach, pool, resort, or doing an athletic activity

Real playa right here. In fact I would say that never will I ever wear short sleeves. I haven't worn short sleeves since 1962

Never say never

That's what this guy said and look at what happened.

wear:

A tie with a button down collar shirt
Banded collar shirts
Monk strap shoes
Suspenders
Sock garters

What is the population wearing sock garters nowadays? Have to agree on suspenders.

Yes. I currently own just two pairs of loafers, one Vass U last in tan calf and one unlined navy suede from Yanko. They are not as sleek as the below, but at least they don't make your feet look like hoofs.

@sprout2 you reminded me - short sleeves, unless I'm doing some sport (and by sport, I don't mean barbeque in the backyard). Long sleeves in anything simply look better.

beefroll and/or penny loafers I think are the original driving shoes/sneaker and to be worn casually -- now there are many more options for casual footwear. Of course there are certain cadres that continue to wear only penny loafers (US establishment)
