Yes. It's still going on. I believe it can be any combination of items.

A sportcoat with a merino or cashmere sweater underneath and a scarf can take you to below freezing. It also really makes you stand out when everyone else looks like es in their parkas and coats.

If anyone knows of a good MTM option, it doesn't need to be an off the rack purchase, but I'm probably well below anything of quality MTM at this price point.

Hopefully with that budget ill have some options but keep in mind that in Canada we are limited to no Nordstrom Racks, Off Fifths or the like and Holts last call is a joke.

I'm a young lawyer so it would be for everyday commuting by bus and subway from fall through the heart of winter.

Just looking for some suggestions or if someone has something in B&S that I haven't seen, please let me know.

If you're a 38/39/40, there's a Boglioli herringbone coat at eHaberdasher for $499 USD. Looks nice I think.

For those who have bought a peacoat or a top coat from JCrew, what's the percentage of wool in the garment?

I'm considering the thinsulate as well.

I did this also a few seasons ago- nice cashmere topcoats that were tricked out inside with the latest snowboarding technology but it didn't generate much interest. Store buyers don't wait outside for buses, I guess.

Sounds pretty interesting to me; I searched a long time for a coat that had more than just wool. A combination of being deeply chilled in a Chicago winter and poor circulation. The convenience of having actual warmth sewn into the jacket rather than relying on more and more layers (which at some point is obnoxious) is a major plus.

I think the way to sell these things would be to the technical fabric/outdoorsy crowd looking to dress up rather than the fancy crowd looking to dress down.
