Navy blue pants and dark shirts

Hey, have a big orchestra performance coming up and I need to wear dark colors. Unfortunately the only dark colored pants I have are navy blue.

What do you guys think of navy blue dress pants with a black dress shirt? Would that be ok? If not, then what about a sapphire blue shirt? I typically wear grey and black dress pants so I'm really unsure. Unfortunately the grey and black dress pants are unavailable. Also, I have a blue tie, a blue/green tie, and a grey tie.

Also, is there any type of jacket/coat that is *dark* that I can wear with this? Sadly I did not get a coat for the blue pants I have.

SN: I'm wearing this with dark brown shoes

A little surprised that your orchestra does not have a dress code? Anyhow I would recommend a white shirt.

Not a fan of the black shirt. I would recommend wearing something in a lighter shade such as blue, white or something with stripes.

Outside of a funeral, playing in an orchestra is about the only place I can imagine wearing a black suit. That said, wearing dark pants and a dark shirt is not acceptable--outside of doing some cosplay as a mobster. Your best bet is to buy a cheap, black suit. Since you are sitting down, fit won't be that important. You might even be able to return it.

I am in agreement on this note. Lighter shades of blue or lighter shades in general with darker pants are more welcoming and look more fresh. I like the look of people when they wear brown shoes with navy suits and a light shirt. That is just my preference though.
