My view on SW&D after being exclusively in MC

The worst of SW&D might be the MC influences (not directly from MC, but what they might share) via the preppy **** - boat shoes/bluchers, etc..

Hyperbole alert: no one has ever not looked like an asshole wearing boat shoes.

I feel the same way about guys in fleece vests.

That's why I wear them both.

How oh how did I miss that one? The quality of the shoes in that poast are matched only by the richness of the blue plush toilet seat cover.

I wish there was a reputation system here... so I could rep your ballsiness.

95% of the people in this thread have no swagger and make me want to stab myself. I do agree with others that SW+F WAYWT needs people not wearing outfits that look like they planned them so as not to anger their bosses, even on their off days.

The nice thing about SF is that it has a diverse range of members from AAAC to Style Zeitgeist. It's really a shame that a close minded attitude has pervaded a good portion of SF. Based off what the OP considers to be crazy WAYWT posts, he'd probably lose his mind after browsing through SuFu's thread. He'd probably seizure just from being on SZ.

Oh, this is OP, and this will blow your mind too: My high-school/middle-school uniforms require ties. So yeah, I started wearing ties since I was 12. I thought that was a norm until I came to the States

I have tried to combine the worst features of both forvms, sometimes with great success.

I think some of the difference between MC and SW&D in tone could be a generational gap as well. A 40-year-old lawyer with a family is certainly going to approach posting differently than a college student. And I don't necessarily mean that maturity-wise, so much as they've come to understand online social interaction differently because of when or how they were introduced to it. My gut says that the older crowd feels more compelled to write more formally regardless of the context, whereas the younger crowd has a different sense of when and how it is appropriate to break certain written communication rules.

Wait, do people seriously think that MC WAYWT is remotely good (speaking in generalities)? Both follow the bell curve but compared to what you see in the streets they aren't bad at all.
