When we speak of MTM, I think we need to differentiate between the two types.
One is where you are measured by a tailor in a local men's shop, the suit is made in your country, or in my case Canada, and after delivery, the tailor does the cuffs, any final tweaking needed, and your suit is ready in 10 days or so.
The other is where you are measured by a traveling salesperson, who may or may not be a tailor, the manufacturing is done in some country with cheaper labor, delivered and any final adjustments or problems are...... Well, I don't know how they are handled as I have never bought a suit this way.
The second method must work out okay for some folks and is less expensive, but I think the chance of getting a garment that you are happy with is much higher with the first method.
I think it can be confusing when we talk about MTM, which method we are talking about, and once again, unless you are a difficult fit, OTR might be a better choice.
OTR worked fine for me for a few decades.
