Will likely be moving to the Princeton area later this summer with wife and two small children. Anyone have any insights to living in the area, both in NJ and in Bucks county PA. Will be working in Princeton and flying out of Newark regularly, as well as going to NYC several times a month. Any insights or experiences would be appreciated.

Newark is arguably America's worst airport but Princeton is one of its nicest towns.

it's a great town, beautiful area. Enjoy it. I don't have a lot of advice as it would be fairly outdated but do remember this:

Hoagie Haven: Whole Western Omelette Sub, extra provolone cheese, ketchup and spices. Bacon Cheesesteak is also acceptable in a pinch.

Newark, the airport, is about as nice as Newark the city.

I live here, send me a PM and I can give you a lot of info. But in general, if you are going to be in the Princeton area, I'd recommend living in West Windsor-Plainsboro, Montgomery Township or Pennington. Princeton proper I cannot stand, too snobby for my tastes. We do play, eat and go to church there though, so it does have some nice things. I think the schools kind of suck there, relative to the surrounding areas. If I could though I would live in PA. Payroll tax is about half, and property tax is nowhere near what we pay, plus real estate is cheaper.

I live in bucks county so send me a pm if you questions. In general taxes and property costs are lower here. You'll get more land for your money. 3.07% flat state tax. Schools here are all regionalized. Many people here with the means do send their kids to private school either around here or in NJ. Agree with previous poster that many people will live outside Princeton rather than in it due to high taxes there.
