I recently purchased a microfiber jacket from the Sak's FF sale. It's khaki colored, with a very nice slim cut with interesting "fashion forward" details, including elements from a safari jacket with patch button pockets. It appears to be from the lower Corneliani line (Corneliani "Identity") but still retailed at $1200. I picked it up for $720 all in after 20 +20% discount. Unfortunately don't have any pics.

What are people's thoughts on microfiber? I'm thinking $700+ for a microfiber jacket is a bit pricey. Hell, I could buy a nice microfiber couch for that much! Granted, I can't wear a couch. I would think for $700+ actual suede would be a better option (although I haven't seen a jacket I really liked style wise as much as this). I'm on the fence about it, and jacket may have to go back...

I recently saw a Micronfiber jacket at Filene's Basement. The material felt similar to microfiber but seemed lighter yet more durable. Does anyone know the difference in weaving between the two materials?

I usually get a little uncomfortable in Polyester. and sometimes maybe allergic.

However, I ve a V2 Classic Suit that is Microfibre (~$2000). It is awesome:
- The 100% polyester pants that comes with it are extremely comfortable in all conditions. it is a little bit slimmer fit (not tight) dress pants. It is elastic if ever stretched, so u won't show a lot of socks when u sit lol. The pants also is quite easy to take care of in terms of little stains. The pants is as soft as any other and doesn't feel rough on ur legs.. in fact they are quite smooth (maybe just not to the point of silk)

- The jacket is great too, the outside is Polyester and inside lined with silk. the fabric is extremely fine. I didn't know the suit is not wool till after i brought it and looked at the material label. It's not the classic business suit, so it's harder to compare. The jacket is stiffer than wool/linen/silk suits, but maybe on purpose? since my pants is definately not stiff.

I can say this is the only polyester thing that i can wear. I guess there are exceptions.

If it's any consolation, in a burst of stupidity, I paid $1250 for a 'microfiber' khaki safari jacket from Paul Stuart (made by Zegna according to the FTC when I plug in the RN number). In all seriousness, although overpriced, the style and cut is quite nice, so I would say if you can afford it and it looks good that's all that counts.
