Is menswear on women now an Asian thing?

Perhaps it's a women-who-work-for-tailors thing?

May well be.

But it’s still interesting that a well-regarded men’s tailor would be advertising this way. If nothing else it’s a vivid reminder of the asymmetry in the gendering of western apparel: I doubt there are many equally serious womenswear producers who use male models.

Cheers,

Ac

Not sure I understand what you guys are saying. Women haven been wearing pant-suits for decades. It's not novel to Asia. Probably shouldn't even really count as "menswear on women" since it's just "womenswear on women," although I understand this thread has kind of become just about women in suits.

Pretty much, though more masculine suits as opposed to the Clintonesque pantsuit. It started after a female joined who opened up a tailoring shop catering to women who wanted to wear "classic menswear." Generally including pocket squares and ties (often bow ties).

Now, yeah, it's just the occasional image from tumblr/IG. I had hoped that the woman would encourage her friends to join, but despite the general support, there were enough dinosaurs around to make it too much hassle for them to bother.

How often have women been getting tailored suits from men's tailors? I can kind of see it in an English country context, but not so much Stateside.

I realize the neither, and especially the second, isn't particularly mensweary. But she's one of my favorite IG accounts. Generally simple t-shirts or soft dress shirts.

On topic: this is just another example of how great menswear (-inspired looks) can work on women who are thin/tall/a bit androgynous.

This just reminded me of this movie. That statement, I believe, could be used all the way around as well...

^Very nice.

Also, the second picture (of mine) is a woman. I think she owns a boutique. As I said, she's one of my favorite IG accounts.

I would argue that more women have the figure to look good in men's clothes than men have the figure for women's clothes. Might be due to the nature of the clothing or of the gendered human body. Though both men's and women's clothing occupy a wide range of styles, so there are most definitely exceptions (wherein a typical masculine body can work in womenswear)

You don't mean this one?

Really though the whole collection is amazing for women's but it's not quite menswear inspired unfortunately. The Uniqlo Ines stuff is cool though, tweed jackets and stuff.
