Wow, I’m genuinely shocked by Meermin’s custom event this time, and actually might be tempted.
Not sure if it’s a new pattern, but it’s really nice and fills the want if anyone has ever lusted after an Ostmo boot. The abundance of interesting leathers, plus they offer raw cord soles ?

although, no ridgeway.....hahaha man sometimes we could be too picky.

I know! I've never even considered buying Meermin. I get their emails just to see what new stuff they come u with out of curiosity. But I saw this Custom event and, I am genuinely impressed.

Apparently they pulled the plug on it.

Ahh,

My guess is the construction is a lot harder than their main line and they may not have the capacity. Bit of a shame, the boots were really cool looking.
No they pulled it because Lars from Ostmo boots reached out to them because the pattern is similar to his. I understand he’s a one man show but even he admits his pattern is based on already existing one.

I'm contemplating between C.F. Stead's unicorn or Maryam toscanello, any thoughts?

I wonder if a commando sole would look good with the pattern?

I’d consider either Horsebutt or Horween shell. I’d probably go for shell as you’re not going to find anyone else do stitchdown shell for $705 (unstructured too)

Honestly with how vast the color range is on Toscanello I would ask if Meermin has any pics of the hide they got. My own pair is at the darker end with red hues, and the lighter end is different enough I'm surprised Maryam doesn't call em two different colors.

I’ve noticed that but wasn’t too sure if it was me being me. I might end up going with the unicorn option, since I was already seriously debating on Viberg’s 1035 burnishable cigar kudu build. Although, I’ve been wanting to try out horse butt as well. I was thinking about doing a cap toe Oxford or boot with Tahura. Too many options.

Just to clarify, this run is carrying on but they’ve agreed not to use the pattern going forwards is my understanding.

well it's official April, and now I am patiently awaiting the arrival of my marbled shell! Fingers crossed they fit since I took a gamble on this MTO

It’s kind of weird though they would decide not to carry it going forward. Ostmos may have popularized it but it’s still a vintage style which he even admits. Same thing happened with Viberg, they popularized the service boot and now every maker has one.
