I've only owned Simpson last, and I'm an 8UK, never tried Rain. Typically a 42 in all other dress shoes, or a 9D. I have flat & narrow feet.

Is the Rain not for me?

@Mr. Clemson, are you saying that you found this pair of Carminas to fit slightly larger than your other Carminas on the Rain last?

No, sorry for the confusion. The pair that was sent to me was a size larger than I typically wear (I believe they send me a UK8 and I wear a UK7 or 6.5), so I couldn't really wear them around. Carmina's sizing has always been consistent for me within the same last although some may stretch more than others (suede vs calf vs shell).

For those who know their Rain last sizing - I have one pair of Carminas - cap toe oxford on the Rain last 7.5UK - had them for years - definitely snug and after hours of wear will be somewhat crushing the toe (toe box narrows near the end).... I have narrow heels so slippage was a concern hence going with the 7.5UK. So overall, it is an OK (definitely wearable) but not ideal fit....

Question - should I size up to Rain 8UK for this drop? I am not sure how much of a step up in size that is unfortunately (and no retailer too close that I can try on in time) -- any insight would be much appreciated!

Are rendenbach soles better than their own RTW soles?

Yes, they are. Correct me if I'm mistaken, anyone, but I believe JR soles are reserved for their cordovan and Inca models.

I'll use some of the other posts as reference to provide are more substantive review, but I just got mine at the office this afternoon, and they are damn nice.

That is generally the case. I'm not sure how long the drop is set to be open for, though I believe it is about a week or so, or until max supply is satisfied.

Given the number of requests on the drop page, I assume the max amount of orders will be achieved long before the drop's scheduled end.

Urgh. Was hoping it would go to 13.5UK. Yet again, big feet folk are forgotten!

I happy to be able to say that Styleforum is getting an exclusive on the new
Massdrop x Carmina Adelaide Semi-Brogue Oxford
A few of our members from our Carmina thread got to take an early look at the samples, and they'll be posting reviews shortly. We've worked for a while with Massdrop, and my first pair of Carmina I bought in 2007, so it's been a 10 year relationship!

As many of you know, but still bears repeating, Carmina is a fourth-generation shoemaker in Mallorca, Spain, and in the opinion of many, represents one of the best values in Goodyear welted shoes.

The Adelaide features the Carmina semi-brogue pattern on a hand-cut calfskin leather upper from France’s famous Tannerie D’Annonay on top of Rendenbach soles (Rendenbach is a German
manufacturer who has been making oak bark–tanned soles since 1871. This Adelaide is built on the Rain last, a versatile, natural-fitting last with a subtly squared-off toe.

Details

Calfskin upper and midsole from Tannerie D'Annonay
Channeled, beveled, oak bark–tanned sole from Joh. Rendenbach Jr.
Rain last
Goodyear welt
Dovetail heel
Nail-reinforced heel and toe
Handcrafted in Spain
Included
Pair of sized beechwood shoe trees
Pair of Carmina-branded red velvet dust bags
Gift box

Color Choices: black (negro) or brown (marron). Full and half sizes are
available from US men’s 6 to 14. Shoe trees are included.

I recently went to Spain and bought a pair of Carmina Chelsea boots on the Inca last. I love them and they are my favorite shoes now.

I want these but is the rain last similar enough to the inca for sizing purposes?
