I am, (so I am not asking on your opinions of why or why not one should) and am just curious how many others did as well.

Yep. No revelations, but certainly worthwhile.

Yep - It's supposed to be a 6 hour course...we went for 45 minutes and the therapist is like, "ye, you guys are fine, come back if you have any issues"...and that was it...saved us a ton o' money!

Isn't some form of pre-marital counseling conducted by the preacher or minister before the ceremony is allowed in a certain church?

My wife and i did; it was all common-sense type of stuff.

it was for us. We watched a film about genital herpes (love the catholic church!) and other reasons for not cheating.

Perhaps mine was a little more beneficial than the majority here. We pounded out all of our issues/roles/duties. Big issues for us were money management, chores, etc.

the catholic church we wanted to be married in required us to go through a 2 day pre-marital counseling/seminar and there wasn't much of a choice if we want to go through with it. i remember falling asleep during most talks. I do distinctly remember dozing off during a natural breastfeeding advocacy talk was being held- and waking up hearing the speaker, a mother of 2, say that she stopped breastfeeding her kids when they reached 9 years old.

The basic premise at the church I worked at went something like this:
You want to get married in our church? We want to make sure that you're a good, Christian couple that we can rely on to do Christian married couple things.

Never made a lot of sense to me. I said take their money and give em what they want. But there's probably a reason I'm not in the church anymore.

Me neither. Maybe it's because I was raised rather insulated from Christianity.
