Had a chance to spend some quality time with the Alessandro Gherardi shirt Spoo sent me.



I don't have a lot of experience with higher end shirts. All of my dress shirts are Epaulet Individualized, Kamakura, and (don't judge me, they were bought by pre-SF PCorn) Bonobos.

The fabric, construction, and detailing on this shirt is definitely several levels higher than any of those brands.



Fabric: I'm not really sure what this weave is called, but it's incredibly soft, and has a very interesting grid texture to it. No hint of starchiness, just an incredibly soft cotton that drapes very well. Maybe someone more experienced with dress shirt cottons can chime in and identify what this looks like.



Construction: Again, I'm no expert on construction methods, but everything seems solidly stitched here. Stitching is at a much finer SPI than my Individualized shirts. This particular shirt features a French placket and French cuffs. The collar has a fantastic shape and structure.



Fit: This is a slimmish fit. Not too tight around the chest. Definitely fitted around the waist, but not aggressively tight. I have rather generous proportions (37.5" waist), and the body fits close but comfortable. Actually, the fit of this particular shirt is perfect on me (sleeves have to come up a bit), so I plan on picking up a few more when the drop goes live. Considering my own body type, this may be one of the more generous cuts that Spoo was modeling a few pages back.



Measurements. This shirt is tagged 16.5/42. I find both the neck and size tagging are true. Again, the neck is perfect on my slightly thicker than average (after 25 years of playing wind instruments professionally - see previous discussions) neck.

Sleeve: 26.75"
Shoulder: 18.75"
Body Length: 32.25"
