I still disagree. What I find interesting about many of the watches that people here have listed as classic, is that they are sport watches. Classic implies (perhaps incorrectly) to me that the watch is timeless and can be dressed up or down. I would find it hard to wear a Submariner or Explorer with a suit, whereas I can pull that off with a Datejust. My $0.02.

Of course you can wear a Submariner (or Seamaster etc.) with a suit. I've done it many times, always looks very fetching. Heck, James Bond's done it all the time and always looks great

I agree, Submariner SS is a winner here I think. Is there a more iconic watch?
