So my brand-new Real McCoy's Buco J-100 in size 40 came in today. And it's the best-fitting jacket I've tried yet. Measurement-wise, it fits exactly like Iron Heart's horsehide single rider (Self Edge version) minus the excess fabric in the upper arms and biswing back panels. I can tell I'm already going to miss the hand pockets though.

And stupid DHL repackaged it somewhere along the way to me, rolling it up into a ball. F'n bastards. Now I gotta get some of these weird ass wrinkles out. I've already tried going over parts with a warm iron and pillowcase between the leather and iron.

Would be one thing if you were trying to knock wrinkles out of a suede A-1 or something, but you're ironing a jacket that looks best after being beaten up and left on a bedroom floor.

It's the antithesis of what you'd ever imagine any normal person who actually wears that jacket ever doing

Whatever. I prefer the brand story to be my own. Not because some random mailman had a hard-on for squeezing big objects into little boxes.

But feel free to waste your very limited posting history on me. Obviously I'm worth it.

I get your point, but he's probably right in that those techniques are for lightweight fashion lambskins and such. They might not work on horsehide.

That said, are there deep creases and folds in the jacket? If so you might want to contact the shop, to contact DHL. The same thickness and resilience of horsehide that makes it so hardy means that if you smash it into place in transport, you can cause permanent creases. When I got a horsehide try-on jacket from Thurston, they attached an instruction sheet for how to correctly package it so it didn't get those creases, because if it did they're irreversible.

Your retailer might be able to make a claim with DHL if there is any such damage.

Dude, c'mon on ... I mean, seriously. You know me by now.

On that note, which Self Edge do you think has more inventory in stock to try on? San Fran or L.A.? I'm guessing there's a Schott store in each city as well? Usually I'd hit NYC, but they're flooded right now.

Schott closed the factory in case of flooding but nothing happened and the stores are open. Of those, I'd say the New York store for the best inventory

So you're complaining about some unidentifiable creasing from the packaging, but feel no qualms about selling jackets you've worn that have creasing in the arms, etc. as being brand new?
