That "outdated" phone will get better reception than the crap you use today and if you're out in the middle of nowhere it will get reception while yours won't.

The dated feature I'd say are the notches.
Can you explain this a bit more? Because I can see that they are outdated, but I really can't figure out why.
No, not too wide. But the bowing of the lapel and maybe the notch angles makes it look slightly dated.
the problem with these sort of pieces is invariably the buyer uses them as 'serious' wear and then they just look old and outdated. If it's work with otherwise modern and stylish items or in an ironic way (hipster) then it's ok.The other alternative is if you're a total trad guy and wearing this almost as a costume of sorts to play that part.
