Kamakura Shirts - Madison Ave Store

Can anybody comment on the linen shirts sizing relative to Brooks Brothers linen shirts? Based on my measurements it looks like the Brooks medium is about a Kamakura large, but I don't entirely trust my measurements because when I pull my Brooks linen shirt from the sides to measure the width it stretches a decent amount. I appreciate any help you can provide.

The Kamakuras run a bit small. I am wearing a medium right now, and its a wee bit snug, and I'm a small guy. If in doubt, size up.

The only thing I would complain about is the duty fees. Cost of both shirts + duties = $220. Ugh, I hate Canada Customs.

As for the tie, I would still go for Seigo (they got quite a lot shop in NYC these days).

Seigo is incredible. So is Kamakura- I'm a thin 15-34 and their 15.3/34 in new york slim fits me perfectly. They're now tied with a zegna shirt I have in terms of comfort, fit, pattern, and ease of maintenance. Luckily I work in the area so I can visit them often for when they restock

Yes, I think this way the chance of having to pay duties would be minimal!

I ordered a shirt from the New York store yesterday, their stock is limited but if you call the shop you can work out an order over the phone. I live near San Diego, so as far from New York as you can get on the main land and shipping was only about 7-8 bucks for a single shirt. That's much cheaper than the $21 shipping to the states costs otherwise, or whatever duties you're liable to get nailed with.

I thought the shortest sleeve length on the New York Slim was 35.5 ?

Yea both my shirts are semi-spread collar, non-ocbd. Really nice collar roll, mother of pearl buttons, tight single needle stitching. im very impressed by the workmanship overall

Kamakura has by far the best service I've seen in a clothing store, and I've been happy with my New York classic fit, spread collar shirt. I only wish that they had the larger neck sizes (18) in shorter sleeves, in line with American lengths. The 18 New York classic fit has a very long 37.5 inch sleeve. A 36 inch sleeve would be perfect and be closer to the sizing for many English and American brands, like Turnbull and Asser or Ralph Lauren. It would also be great to offer a cutaway in 18, perhaps a classic white and an end-on-end blue. That would sell very well.

+1. In addition to having the best service with prompt and professional responses, Kamakura produces shirts that fit me perfectly, no need to take to the tailor. In term of American size, I think they will dial it in perfect on the next batch of design if they are aware of SF feedbacks. Overal they have earned a new customer for a very long tim as long as they continue to keep up the quality and price ratio.

Stopped by the Madison ave store.

Nicest, most polite salesmen, ever. Love the soft collar and the collar sizing; can't stand tiny collars. Fit is spot on for those who are slim (Tokyo slim fit). The store had limited selections although you can find much more on their webstore. Really looking forward to everything they plan on offering in the future. I actually felt bad for leaving the store without buying a shirt because they were so polite.

For any waiting, there has been a lot of re-stocks across most styles, New York slim especially. I picked up a white and pink OCBD. I'd get in quick.

If youre a 15.5 - 15.75 34.5 or 35 sleeve you're screwed
