Yeah, Practice shorts are definitely more on that shorter length mesh shorts wave and also don't have the heavy piping details which make the Game shorts even more sporty looking. FWIW, I think these animal prints work better in the Game short though. I like the contrast between the waistband/piping and the print. I tried Lynx 2 Practice shorts on initial release, and the fabric is so silky with that dark green exotic pattern, I felt like I was about to take the stage in Magic Mike 3.

I found the Corduroy ones to run a bit shorter, and I roll the waistband on all of mine so I get that shorter look. I'm 5'8 as well.
