Jesus was a super-intelligent gay man

I saw this earlier. What a dumb statement. I mean, what does being gay have to do with compassion? Moreover, what does Jesus' sexuality have to do with anything?

It seems to me that he made the comments to invoke a response, rather than to make some useful point.

I have no doubt he was a bit fey, but where does the "super-intelligent" thing come from?

Maybe he was thinking of Paul.

And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother.....And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.
Only one way to interpret that.

Yeah, this is a big, pink facepalm.

Luckily, I think it will largely be overlooked. I mean, does anybody really care what Elton John has to say? I like some of his older music (***** Chateau was excellent and Yellow Brick Road had some great songs, too), but at least for the past 10 years, he comes across largely as a hysterical queen with a bad haircut and some really ugly suits.

Not self-loathing enough for you?

Yeah, I was actually going to make a self-loathing joke... But, srsly, who cares if Jesus was gay or not? I mean, do evangelical straight women wonder how Jesus was hung? I've ne'er heard the expression, "hung like a Nazarene!" Edit: Elton has done a WHOLE lot for charity work, especially AIDS (IIRC, he donates much or all of the proceeds from his music to AIDS causes) and that's certainly laudable. Nevertheless, when he makes speeches or comments in public on other topics, he often tries to be provocative, but usually just comes across bitchy, petty, or just plain odd. This seems to be a bit of all three.
