That's correct! That is why it's important for us to find somthing different. Hiro Yanagimachi's dark brown would be worth shooting for.

We received a more accurate quote for some of the leather that could be used (a beautiful dark brown from Zonta, used for the bespoke trade, and a slightly lighter version), which comes to 65 USD per pair of shoes (instead of the earlier 50 USD).

Another leather we enquired about was a Freudenberg dark brown calf, and I am still waiting for a response on that.

A final option would be the calf leather from Du Puy. Annonay is not an option since Vass uses this leather already, and they do not have the warm brown that we're after. The Du Puy calf is slightly less expensive per square meter than the Zonta calf, yet the yield is not as good.

One of the benefits of having Vass use our leather is that we can determine how many shoes are cut per square meter, and I would like to limit this to 2.5 pair. This ensures the best pieces will be used.

Once I have all the quotes (shouldn't take longer than a few days) I can ask for some samples and share with you.

This is one of the Zonta leathers in question, it is a proper medium to dark brown calf, that will sit nicely inbetween the antique cognac and dark brown calf. In any case, we will be asking for physical samples to check leather quality and color ourselves.

@Lancaster

Some of it we still have, enough for a few one-offs or potential future projects. But most of it is at Vass, since we calculate the leather close to the required amount, but we have exclusivity over it.

With regards to the pr-order, we ask for a 10% deposit.

We will have some other RTW models in production by the end of this week, pre-orders for those will be available as well.

Also, we are talking with Mr. Vass to be able to do a GMTO in dark brown calf after all :)

We are working on making the dark brown calf GMTO happen, but it is very difficult to persuade Mr. Vass at this moment. Logistically speaking, it is not easy to run a GMTO with other people's leather. This is also because, pictures of this leather then reach SF, Google and IG, and Vass gets requests years later for doing a MTO in that leather.
