The lining can of course be removed, but I’m wondering whether the damage done by the poor stitching/workmanship can be sorted to a standard the same quality as previously (pristine).

It is likely to be sent somewhere else where I suspect they will tell me they can just change the lining, but looking at what’s happened to it, I don’t think they will be able to do a good enough job based on its current state.

In particular the cashmere used for the inside pockets both sides looks to be part of the outer, so can’t be replaced. Also other places where the stitching/work has caused fraying/damage I think parts of the material would need to be cut away for it to be fixed - which isn’t acceptable given it was perfect beforehand.

in my experience with Zegna, they mend everything, no matter the age or condition in the best way possible, for free and with no questions asked

most (?) of their boutiques have in-house tailors or work with local ones that are up to par with the brand's standards

so whether or not this is fixable, the local boutique can likely answer that question the best

keep us posted on the process

Thank you for the response.

I certainly don’t think it’s too far gone to be somewhat salvageable, but I think the position will be that if it cannot be restored to same condition it was previously, they will reimburse the value. Having looked at how poorly it’s been done, my initial thought was that whilst a new lining could be fitted, it would involve some level of ‘botching’ to cover up what looks like damage. As such I wouldn’t be happy accepting it back in a depreciated condition.
However I’m not an expert, it may be that once the lining is removed, the remaining fabric etc. is in perfect condition to have a new one sown in.
