Is there a cheaper decent alternative to the suede Alden tassel @ $516?

I apologize if this topic has been covered.

I really like the Alden suede tassel, but I don't want to shell out $500. Is there a cheaper alternative with a similar look?

I'm going to move this to Menswear advice, where the question and answers will benefit other members and readers.

Cheers,

Where all have you looked? And what about the Alden do you like?

Claghorn,
I like a suede shoe, and I also like the shape of the Alden, ie, not too round (I actually wouldn't mind it a touch more chiseled, but I'm guessing such a shoe would be even more money). Also, the Alden has a pretty substantial look- some loafers are too thin and slipper-ish for me.

Where else have you looked for alternatives (Loake, Meermin, Allen Edmonds, Carmina, Alfred Sargent, etc)?

Claghorn, to be honest, I took the lazy way out and was relying on the clear expertise of this site's members. Your suggestions are great- Loake and Meermin have options that look good. Thanks for your input.

I bought the Loake Lincolns on a whim and regret not going C&J. One of my tassels is slightly off center, there's a dab of glue near one of the side eyelets, and there's an extra thick seam in one of the shoes that rubs the outside of my heel when I walk. I also have a narrow foot, yet find that the toe box pinches a bit. Thoroughly unimpressed, but YMMV.

Johnsson, you'll have me at the Alden shop by Wednesday! All joking aside, I hear you- I've got a pair of C&J's and they are beautiful shoes. -CS
