It's a service fee that is universally accepted in Texas. Duh!

It looks like it is a fee that you Texans are paying to help the fine deaf community.

How often do you guys look over the line items of your bills? The amount of bullshit fees is staggering! "Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge"? Really? You got to be kidding me. Also, what the Hell is a "Texas Universal Service" fee?

Doooooods, this was perfect Pio bait. WTF happened?

Yeah, I was walking to target at lunch and passed a radioshack. They had two people with megaphones standing outside begging people to come in and buy iphone 5s

How hasn't radioshack gone out of business already?

Does Radio Shack carry both AT&T and Verizon?

This is an odd development.

http://www.theverge.com/2012/9/21/3369702/verizon-iphone-5-gsm-unlocked

New owners of the Verizon iPhone 5 are being met with an unexpected but welcome surprise today: the device comes fully unlocked out of the box. That will come as great news for customers that travel overseas and it even allows you to insert an AT&T nano-SIM if the desire strikes you. We've been able to confirm that the Verizon iPhone 5 is fully compatible with AT&T's 3G network — though differing LTE bands will prevent you from achieving high-speed connectivity. You should also be able to hop on T-Mobile's 3G network in areas where the carrier has refarmed its spectrum, though we've yet to test this firsthand. We've reached out to Verizon for comment on the rare unshackling.

I can't tell...but in a pinch, they are the only widespread shop that will sell you random electronic components and (some) funky cables. The little corner with switches, resistors, and LEDs keeps getting smaller but it still exists. Usually has a pretty big markup but on tiny cheap parts it is hard to beat online price+shipping unless you are buying in quantity.

No way they actually make enough money off that stuff to keep the doors open.

I think the only major they don't carry is T-Mobile. Of course someone posted up above that radioshack was also having issues filling orders so maybe the store I walked by was a fluke (State and either jackson or adams)

Radioshack is great for batteries. They carry most every type you could be looking for outside of something for your car.

EDIT: Hmmmm. I may swing by a local one before I hit the gym.

Just surprised that your car doesn't have a USB port in addition to the 30-pin. What brand is it if you dont mind me asking?

Both cars have the stock, basic stereo system, and I got aftermarket adapters to feed into either car's CD changer inputs, so they need to feed the car stereo analog signals. One uses the DICE Silverline, while the other uses a Dension 500. The 30-pin connector also lets me charge the phone, and control the iPhone's music player with the car's own audio controls, which is convenient. It will be interesting to see if the 30-pin adapter preserves control by the car stereo, but it's not a dealbreaker.

The Dension does have a USB port, but it only knows how to talk to mass storage devices like USB sticks and hard drives. I suppose if worse comes to worst, I could just copy my iTunes library to a portable SSD, and rearrange my car's wiring and keep the hard drive in the trunk. But I'm lazy, and navigating gigabytes of music with the stock stereo will be impractical.

I am trying to backup my 4s to iCloud but it is taking forever. 4 hours remaining, what gives?

Did you see when your last back up was before this? It happens automatically when connected to power and on Wi-Fi, overnight. You might have already had a recent back up and no reason to worry about it again.

apparently my last backup was in June :uhoh: I have it setup to sync when connected to wife but I am not sure why it hasn't been syncing.

Those of you who have your new phones, have you tried using the phone mic with your head phones? My experience is that headset mics suck generally, and my favorite setup is to use no-mic headphones and when in call or record mode just use the phone's mic. This is possible with the 4 and the original iPhone, but not the 3G series. I'm hoping they haven't changed this up again. That would mean trying to search out another Shure or Griffin adapter, and they are discontinued. All the ones made now suck.

god it feels so good to be back on ios.

i appreciated android and my nexus for what they were, but the bugginess of the OS and the TERRIBLE battery life of my nexus made it a hassle to use, really.

this phone is awesome guys (no fanboi).

using mine completely naked, btw. no cases, no skins, no film bullshit.
