I have been searching through the forum's archives on topics on dress boots, and I realized that we don't have a definitive guide on boots, specially with regard to RTW dress boots.
I am thinking along the line of the article by John Cusey on shoes. But apparently, this cannot apply to the world of dress boots. Since there are company that makes a lot of shoes, but no boots (eg Allen Edmonds), there are company that specializes in boots only (RM Williams, Ron Rider).
Can we have some kinds of guide on boots, so that people know where to looks for boots? Some basic questions on top of my head are:
- What are some respectable bootmakers (I only know Alden, RM William, Ron Rider,
- Their respective hierarchy (of course, this will be controversial, but there is a hierarchy nevertheless)
- Boots constructions and is there anything we need to consider when buying boots while we don't need to consider when buying shoes?
I know that a lot of people here have great knowledge on this topic, but it's hard to find good information among the huge archive here...
Thanks,
