I like the chair, too, but a lot of it depends on what the rest of his place looks like. If he has pretty neutral stuff, it would easily fit in. The proportions of the chair are beautiful, no matter its color.

Kronik, do you like any of Hans Wegner's stuff? I finally got to sit in his shell chair (in a Room & Board of all places), and fell in love with it:

The room itself, currently, is filled with a Baker Archetype set (transitional, very heavy but clean lines) in a tan color. The duvet cover we just purchased is http://www.italianfinelinens.com/shstbyfi.html which we may exchange for http://www.italianfinelinens.com/silhouette.html. White Jamie Young egg shaped lamps with orange shades (we couldn't find any modern lamps with a bold enough presence to match the rest of the extremely voluminous furniture). Once we paint the room, I think the chair will fit in quite well as it will be the only item that is truly colorful. I like Wegner's designs - I've always been fond of the Wishbone chair though I've never tried any of his stuff in person.
