I can't help but sympathize with the OP, having felt that way on many occasions and battled with severe bouts of depression and anxiety over the years. I thought long and hard about this statement above, and personally I would never join the military (my own personal pol. beliefs) but i cant help but find this statement true in that "you need to go out and find an adventure". In the past few weeks I read this book my mom bought me at christmas from the christian bookstore. And I am not the most religeous person but the author makes alot of valid points about how men have almost been domesticated, in essence we are Wild at Heart (the title of the book). Whether you find an adventure by moving off to a new city or try backpacking in the woods, I think finding you're own new adventure will make you realize you have plenty to live for. If you get a chance I also suggest reading the book "Wild at Heart" even if you dont believe in christianity i think there's alot of valid information and suggestions for men of all walks of life.

I went through depression and stuff for a long period, wasnt as much for failure in fields than not getting happiness from it all, and i think im pretty prone to depression in general, but i never ever contemplated ending my life for example, i like myself too much for that.

A job doesnt identify you, neither does how much money you make. I was way more comfortable than a lot of people but its all relative, the problems others have may seem little to you but they affect them just as bad as your bigger problems affect you.

Ultimately you just have to toughen up and suck it up. Like i said your identity does not come from your job. Sounds cliche but getting a bit better financially or materially wont being you happiness unless you develop your character to be a bit stronger. At one point something clicked and i changed and i just wasnt thinking like that anymore, hang in there and youll get there.

Tons of people have been through much worse. And tons others were blessed with everything and ended up shooting their brains out.

Just realise you still have a lifetime ahead of you, the possibilities are enedless and even trying to pursue one and not necessarily making it could bring you more happiness. Drowning in your own misery wont, however.

You have nothing to lose and no responsibilities?

****, man. Go out and walk the earth. Get in some adventures. You can always die later.

Sometimes existence feels like an imperfect tense that never becomes the present we wanted.
Sometimes it just hurt in the existence.

None of us here can tell you what to do. This is truly up to you to figure out. But we can tell you this: we´ve all experienced the same kind of **** as you do now. Yet we have gotten through it and would not have been without it today.

It is a part of everybody's life, although the pain is individual. Hence It is part of that which shapes us. When you have gotten all your **** back together, you will by then find yourself as a stronger and more confident man, wiser on life itself and probably a bit better-looking because of this.

I for one think your argument is airtight. I'm sure you'll be missed.

I've been in somewhat of the same boat, I have battled depression and suicide for years now (especially in the winter).

Really the best thing to do about it, at least in my experience, is to keep yourself busy. Find a hobby or work a lot; it keeps your mind off your own thoughts.
