i gave and bought ex a handful of useful things (kindle, 150gb external HD, etc.)

what i was left with was a table lamp, piece of fence that is part of a dog/baby cage, moveable clothes rack, and misc. clothes, which i donated.
over the course of the relationship, she bought random clothes/shoe, which i ended up donating/returning because it wasn't up to sf standards (0)

keep telling myself i will eventually replace the table lamp and toss the fence.
it really brings the 'lols' when i think about it in those terms.

^and when i said shoe box, it wasn't just the recent ex. i had things all the way back, 6+ years ago. burned it all in the fireplace.

Yes

They either fell apart or felt weird on my body. Eventually they ended up in the back of my closet until cleaning time and I just tossed them.
I was dressed up in H&M

she knew, but rather spend her money @ the mall. when i'm with a girl, i do not mind spoiling her, but it would be nice, at least 1 time out of the year, that i got treated out too. but therein lies the problem, don't spoil your girl. everything in moderation. and if it doesn't work out,

Will take that into consideration Toasty. I know what you mean and it's really sad because if you bring it up then it "doesn't count" because you had to tell her to do something. ugh. haha, is that a show? need to hulu that or something.

i actually burned everything that i kept in my "shoe box" this past weekend
felt good i guess. not sure why i kept one for so long or why others do at all. bit of a relief /whatever feeling

I wish girls that I dated would burn **** and move on like that, instead of annoying the piss out of me.

well you have to consider that we broke up in the summer and it only got cold enough for the fireplace now

parks and recreation is funny, though a bit slow at times. dry humor mostly IMO

Nuts to that, Parks & Rec is the best comedy on TV right now and it's not even close.

Parks and Rec has some really bad acting and writing. Amy Poehler and the Ben character need to be re-worked or scrapped. I can't tell if their characters are just written poorly or acted poorly, but either way I cringe when I watch that show sometimes because of how bad it can be at times. Yet, Andy and April are great. It makes me certain that portions of the writing team handle particular characters.

Also, it has way too much 'out-of-office' moments where the characters are basically standing around in some location spouting nonsense with no reason to be there. It seems very forced at times.

Just split with my gf of 5 months last night, was a ****** situation because I'm leaving to London in a few days and she basically forced me to decide between her or the abroad experience. I chose the experience, now she's crushed and I feel like a real bastard.

Unsure of whether it was the right choice, our relationship was really healthy and I was incredibly happy with it...Le sigh

Conflicting statements.

At five months, the honeymoon phase was still within sight for you. Unless you have a Sammy-Ronnie Jersey Shore type of relationship, most relationships will seem healthy that brief into an exclusive relationship. It might not seem like it now, but given the above ultimatum, I can assure you that there would have come a point where her manipulative ways became more visible. And at your young age, asking a significant other to turn down an abroad experience for their sake can be nothing but manipulative. It's not like you two have kids or something that you'd be bailing out on.
