How to wash fine linen pants

I got a new pair of linen pants made with W Bill linen. The tailor said it's a bit delicate so ideally, they should be hand washed or at least washed cold in the washer with a laundry bag. They were already prewashed so won't shrink, but the linen is delicate enough to be damaged. How would you wash these? Would linen shirts get similar treatment?

Linen isn't fragile at all.
And become nicer and better with age, wrinkles and fades, so don't worrry.

Handwash in cold water and hang dry is always the best choice.

How do you plan to press them after washing them?
You may be surprised how difficult this will be.

The issue with washing tailored trousers is that pocketing, curtain and interlinings all respond to washing in different ways. Even the thread could shrink and create puckering on every seam.

If the thread or any of the other materials in the waistband construction or the curtain and pocketing shrinks, you may not be able to restore the trouser to the original state.

If you and your tailor calculated the shrinkage of the various fabrics and adjusted the construction for home washing, then carry on.
