How to say "hire me?"

I work for a vendor with one major customer. How do I go about trying to get hired by the customer?

I have an excellent reputation, some important contacts and valuable skillsets but I am not sure how to go about introducing the topic that I am open to offers of employment if they are interested.

I am fairly sure that it hasn't come up before because they are satisfied with the service my company is providing but I am planning to leave that company in the near future regardless if they have a job for me or not. I simply want to raise my flag to say that the option exists.

Anyone have any advice here?

(yes, I am perfectly capable of making my own life decisions...just hoping to bounce it around a bit).

does this customer have anything to do with the service you provide? I mean, do you sell them widgets, and you are the HR manager of the widget maker, or do you provide them with HR services?

do you know any specific individuals who are in positions of decision making in the customer organization? I have done similar things in the past, basicaly had a conversation with somebody who interacted with me about it.

good luck

HR services... but I know that they are considering doing these services more as an in-house function with less use of vendors.

I do know some very high-level decision makers but in other areas of the company. Should I use them to put a word in the ear of the hiring manager? I am already working on this process but fear that I may get caught up in internal power games and politics. Probably unavoidable though.
