Not trying to knock you, obviously, just curious as to your reasoning.

Casual for me is odd trousers and a sports jacket. Either that or I have tons of armani stuff that I bought a 2-3 years ago that i wear when I really don't want to wear a sports jacket, so I haven't bought anythign that fits most peoples' definition of casual in a couple of years.

How about shoes? Neckwear? Or basics like undershirts and such? You pay full retail for them too?

+1. Except for my undershirts and athletic socks, which are full priced Hanes at Target.

The only thing that will tempt me to pay full retail are shoes.. and very rarely then. I have more of everything than I can possibly wear enough to wear it out so I just wait, because it will come at deep discount eventually, even basics like the perfect RLPL navy suit I just picked up for 70% off. Additionally, I don't feel at all guilty for buying 6 pair of EG's, 3 Grenson MP, 2 Vass and 1 C&J this month since I picked them all up for the MSRP of the 2 Vass. Why pay retail???

Surprisingly the only clothes I buy at full retail are the basic necessities: underwear, t-shirts, socks....

My result really varies based on the product being purchased.

For example - good shoes are very hard to get on sale. I am not saying that you can't - the recent EG sale is a good example. If you are looking for a specific style, you can't rely on a sale.

If I see a shoe I really like, I buy it while I can. I have rarely ever regretted it by seeing the shoe go on sale somewhere down the road.

Suits are a different case, however. I have generally found that I am able to find things I like on sale pretty consistently.

Shirts and ties fall somewhere in the middle.

I have a fair number of quality items brought on bargain. However, sooner or later you find yourself buying things because they are quite nice, though not 100% what you had in mind. Sometimes this can be a good thing. Still, it's nice being able to order things MTM or bespoke to get greater control. Fortunately, I have discovered ways and means of getting MTM and bespoke at reasonable prices - substantially less than high end RTW.
