Heading to SF for the second time for a three-night trip. Trying to decide if I want to switch up from the Hotel Carlton to this one - a couple of nicer amenities (32-inch TV, etc.) and a bit closer to Union Square. Also $25-30 cheaper/night.

It looks nice, but it's new enough I thought I'd ask around about it. I don't trust TripAdvisor/Yelp and the like.

Never heard of it.

I don't see the point of the TV as a differentiating factor. How much time do you expect to spend in the hotel room?

We've gotten away from going to bars or clubs on trips (she owns one here - paying retail for drinks is just depressing), so after dinner and exploring we tend to wander back and lay in bed and watch a movie.

I didn't mind the Carlton (same area), but I'm starting to think we probably won't even go to Union Square this time.

Maybe I should look for something up in the Marina District...

Judging from your comments about Dallas suburbs, the Marina might make you sick to your stomach. San Francisco doesn't really have hotels in good locations, which is a major problem. If I were you, maybe I would check this out. I've never been there, but it is in a great area. http://www.wsisf.com/

The Marina didn't bother me - not exciting, but a lot of little shops and cafes and stuff. Finding my way to Self Edge was more my style, yes.

I'd kill to have a place like Asqew at home instead of three dozen Boston Markets, though.
