Hi guys, I'm getting a green velvet jacket made in Hong Kong (Single breasted, ticket pocket, A&S style), and I'm just beginning to realize how complicated velvet is. The tailor I'm with has in stock Holland and Sherry's 79% cotton, 21% modal velvet. However, I just went on the H&S website and it shows that they have two types of velvet - this blend (182800) and a pure cotton one (182700).

Does anyone have any experience with these velvets in particular? Or perhaps anyone with a good knowledge of velvet able to shed light on the probably differences between these two fabrics?

Thanks very much and I look forward to hearing back!

100% cotton is still the best.

Hi, thanks for the advice! Could you elaborate on why it is the best? Would 100% cotton velvet drape better or would the modal allwo the fabric to drape better?
