Would you be surprised if I say that if I lump all of your photos together, I see a person who actually prefers more formality but has so many years of informality in his youth and young adulthood that he is reticent about just ditching the informal part?

Um, thats pretty accurate. And a lot scary. Please leave my head.

 Use your merchandise-churning powers selfishly by experimenting.
When I say "situationally reticent," I am, of course, cheating. Forgive me the cheat, but I would rather that than pretend to know everyone's circumstances.
I think that you have had access to such a variety of well-made RTW that you might feel the obligation to keep the ones that seem the most "special" for yourself. But, in reality, the tailored clothing that you wear is not the sartorial items that are most special to you.
You have a special affection for those things that are made by people (family or e-friends) you know. Well, keep those elements even if they cause others to murmur. Wrist-raff. Shoes. Neckties.
But, those impersonal things...the RTW tailored clothes made by mythical and far off strangers...treat with a withering eye. Bust those things back to the basics.
I hope that I make sense. Even if I don't, try it and you might go up a few notches your day by day look.
If I'm wrong, your peak lapel, patch pocket odd jacket will still be waiting in the closet (or warehouse.)

1. Great 3000th post.
2. You have PM.
3. Shall we attempt an Austere April then?

Why wait for April, Spoo?

Austere March just does not have the same ring to it.

And my tailor, with a bunch of new (austere) stuff is on vacation.

OK OK. Ive still got to wait for my alterations to come back, so chill your biscuits.

However, Ive noted this problem with myself before, and 99% of the time it comes from wearing SCs as opposed to suits. Ive weeded out most of them from rotation, and prefer to balance at least 3/5 workdays in a suit.

I definitely prefer your suits.

Do you remember Gus' question in the PS thread about everyone's go-to selection of squares? I would also like to see you pick five or six from your collection and really work them for a few weeks and see what happens. Just a thought...
