Hi Folks,

Recently decided to step up my style game a bit, and start dressing like an adult
smile.gif

I am local to Spier and Mackay, and decided to purchase some custom Shirts. I picked out a few colours, and would like to grab a couple of ties, and maybe even dabble into a bowtie or two (yup, rookie to the bowtie).

Fabric #1 - Grey Blue Spotted: http://www.spierandmackay.com/search.php?srchtext=grey+blue
Possible option: http://www.aristocratsbowsnties.ca/collections/silk-ties/products/blue-mini-white-silk-tie

Fabric #2 - Blue Braganza Dobby Check: http://www.spierandmackay.com/search.php?srchtext=dobby+check
Possible Option: http://www.aristocratsbowsnties.ca/...ucts/billy-jean-stripes-silk-bow-tie-self-tie
Possible Option: http://www.aristocratsbowsnties.ca/collections/silk-bow-ties/products/bright-night-silk-bow-tie
Possible Lighter Option: http://www.aristocratsbowsnties.ca/collections/silk-bow-ties/products/blue-mini-dotted-silk-bow-tie

Fabric #3 - Deep Burgundy Fenchurch Polkadot: http://www.spierandmackay.com/search.php?srchtext=fenchurch
Possible Option: http://www.aristocratsbowsnties.ca/collections/silk-ties/products/block-stripes-silk-tie
*** Burgundy is tough. I dont know if I could pull off a bowtie with this, or a contrasting colour.

For arguments sake, lets assume these will be worn without a jacket. I currently only own a black suit that fits (I know, I know!). So while they may be worn suited, its black.

I realize this is a few links, and appreciate any help, or thoughts!

Thanks in Advance,
-John

I think you already know that you are going for a look that isn't what they (we) call "SF approved". First, I think a patterned tie and spotted/polka shirt is not a great idea. With those shirts, just stick with solid colored ties. That may seem boring to you, but the shirts will stand out enough on their own...they shouldn't have to compete with a tie. Just my two pence.

I think Grey Blue Spotted Texture Contemporary Fit- Button Cuff shirt with Block stripes silk tie would work as an excellent combination....

Murl...

Not at all. Being new to more patterned shirts, and SF, I had no idea. I was always under the impression that a tie should be darker then the shirt. Is your advise to stick with solid, dark colours with these?

Thanks

They burgundy and grey tie with the grey and blue shirt? Interesting. I never considered it, but that could work. Thanks!

I think a solid navy tie might be your bet with all three shirts.
