Aren't the patches put there to cover worn spots? Why would one remove them except to replace worn patches (now that's getting some mileage out of a coat) with new ones.

Imatlas, I can't really say that I have. Beyond the tailor, shirtmaker, shoemaker and my usual haberdashery (doesn't carry cucinelli), I haven't been in a menstore in years. But don't tell anyone, I don't want my SF membership suspended for truancy.

What is your usual haberdashery, by the way?

I hold Cucinelli responsible for the proliferation of elbow patches in fashion today, and they are everywhere at the moment. Suddenly they're all over women's wear as well.

I suppose there are two: Paul Stuart & Ben Silver. Until Lords in the Burlington Arcade closed (a few years back now), it was a third.
